Wippel Family Berks is a family owned and operated swine and grain farm located in Orient, OH (south central Ohio). Jeff Wippel (the boss) had his start in pigs in 1974 through 4-H at the county fair. That year he won Grand Champion Market Hog. From there his passion has only grown.
In 1990 he married his wife Sherrie and together they have four daughters: Makenzie (Ryan), Macie, Mallorie (Levi) and Markie. They have all been involved in the industry.
Jeff has been President of the Ohio Berkshire Association for over 10 years. In 2015 he was elected to serve on the American Berkshire Association Board of Directors. That same year he was inducted into the Ohio State Fair Swine Hall of Fame.
Currently we have 100 sows on the farm that farrow year around. While Berkshires will always be our speciality, we also have about 5 Spot sows and 10 Crossbreds. There's typically 4-5 boars on the farm that are collected and semen is sold. We sell anything from bred gilts, show pigs, boars and groups of gilts.
Recently we have began to sell Berkshire meat products. Ranging from bacon to ribs, pork chops, hams and anything in between, we have our pigs processed at an FDA inspected facility. In the summer we promote Berkshire meat at 2 local Farmer's Markets in the area. You can check out what cuts we have to offer and buy them on our "Berkshire Meat" page.
